  • Seddon Gets the Call

    Tuesday night Chris Seddon was in Allentown, Pa. preparing for the Triple-A All-Star Game. However the 26-year-old lefty, who leads the Pacific Coast league with 10 wins, never got into the game. Prior to first pitch, Seddon's Manager Darren Brown told him that he'd been called up by the Mariners. As Seddon told Angie Mentink, he was more than willing to trade an All-Star appearance for a big league one.

  • M's Catch a Rising Star From Texas

    After being traded from the Rangers along with three minor leaguers for Cliff Lee and Mark Lowe Friday, first baseman Justin Smoak was immediately thrust into the starting lineup Saturday. That same evening, Smoak made his debut on FSN's 'Mariners Batting Practice.'   • Bedard Sharp in Tacoma Rehab Outing

    31-year-old left-hander Erik Bedard allowed just three infield singles and one unearned run over 4.1 innings with the Rainiers last night. If his surgically-repaired shoulder responds well to this latest rehab start, Bedard could make an appearance in the Mariners starting rotation as early as Tuesday, when the club hosts Kansas City. Saying he felt "pretty good" after the game, Bedard spoke about his return.

  • Hill & Carroll Discuss LB's First Day Back

    With legal issues surrounding Leroy Hill in April, new coach Pete Carroll had to ask one of his best and most experienced linebackers to stay away from Seahawks headquarters until NFL Commissioner Goodell had his say. Today, Hill practiced for the first time in two months, shadowing Lofa Tatupu in an attempt to pick up the new defense as quickly as possible. Hill and Carroll both spoke after practice.

  • Superstar Leading Tight-Knit Soccer Club

    Following a two-goal performance against the Whitecaps at the end of April, Portland midfielder Ryan Pore was voted USSF Division-2 Pro League Player of the Month. After a two-week hiatus from league play, Pore and the Timbers will be ready to get back to business, when they host Baltimore Thursday night at 7 p.m. on FSN. Pore's midfield mate Tony McManus says the club has a special bond.
